Terms of Use

The following constitutes MEDIA INDIGENA’s policies (subject to future revision) concerning the terms of use by site visitors, in particular, participation within its DISQUS-based commenting system.

User agreement to terms and conditions

By posting your comments on MEDIA INDIGENA, you agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use the DISQUS service to post any material that is knowingly false and/or defamatory. You agree to avoid personal insults, attacks and mischievous antagonism (otherwise known as “trolling”). You will not post material that is inaccurate, abusive, hateful, harassing, obscene, threatening, invasive of a person’s privacy or otherwise in violation of Canadian law.

All commenters agree not to post any copyrighted work unless they own the right to the material. Short quotes, accompanied by both links and references to such material are acceptable. Continuous linking to a publication, website, blog or other writing belonging to the commenter (or to another party) is considered spamming. Anyone who does this could be warned and/or banned for doing so.

If a commenter is disruptive; repeatedly attempts to provoke conflict, bait or taunt, they may be warned, or have their accounts blocked altogether. The decision is at the discretion of the moderators.

Any commenter who has been previously banned and re-registers with another user name can and will be banned again without warning. Commenters’ continued participation on the MEDIA INDIGENA site is at the sole discretion of its moderators and operators.

Removing comments and/or comment threads

Comment moderators may alter comments for any number of reasons, including but not limited to: errors in grammar or spelling; libel or slander; oppressive/offensive language; commercial or other kinds of spam; any other reason.

Site comment threads may be locked or closed for the following reasons:

  • The thread has become off-topic, abusive, or argumentative to the point that productive discussion cannot be resumed
  • The thread’s subject matter explicitly targets and/or attacks another participant
  • Commercial or disruptive spamming

While MEDIA INDIGENA has the ability to remove offensive comments, we will only do so in the most extreme cases (libel, commercial spam, etc.). In those cases, we will remove the offending post within a reasonable amount of time.

Reporting offensive, objectionable, or spam-based comments

Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to do any of the following:

  • Hit the “Flag” button at the bottom of the comment in question.

and/or

  • E-mail rick[at]mediaindigena[dot]com with the thread title and url link.

Considering the increasingly frequent volume of comments, it is impossible for MEDIA INDIGENA to review messages or confirm the validity of all information posted. Although we are unable to review every post, and are not responsible for any of the content posted, we reserve the right to delete any individual comment or thread of comments for any reason whatsoever.

The site moderators are not obligated to remove any posts created before a suspension or a banning, unless the moderators deem it necessary. MEDIA INDIGENA reserves the right to suspend commenters who have provided false information for their DISQUS profile. MEDIA INDIGENA reserves the right to reveal anyone’s identity or any personal information in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any message posted.

MEDIA INDIGENA does not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any comment or the service, and is not responsible for the contents of any comment or the service. The messages express the views of the author, not necessarily the views of MEDIA INDIGENA or any entity associated with us.
